Nicely situated in a green valley and surrounded by woods, the village of Montillot has long continued reputation for its well maintained market gardens, the land being suitable for planting orchards and crops of red fruits. There are still some orchards left today which are kept with loving care. The names of these orchards and the names of the streets are a reminder of the old horticultural crafts; Orchard Street, Gardeners Street, Raspberries Street, etc. .. .
The village has few remains of the past: an old fortified church with a square tower of the XII century, the "castle" - mansion which was rebuilt in the early nineteenth century - and the many crosses, witnessing the fervent devotion of the inhabitants.
Wild orchids cover the lawns.
